RSVP's by April 21st are useful: Contact Nate Pederson 502 299 9520 nate@metageny.com
AICHE members and those of similar affinities are welcome to meet up and swap our stories of the ChemE industry, as well as to garner broader context of current and future events within the world that influences our industry. Come ready to give a 45 second elevator speech of what you are about within the profession, and be prepared to mix with old and new friends, swap contact information, and give/take advice as befits. A brief presentation will be given of general interest. All this with hoppy libation at the ready. RSVP by April 21st in the evening.
If we as Chemical Engineers ever expect to take our rightful place as the rulers and controllers of the planet (instead of the bumbleheads, crooks, and nasty-folk that are currently laying waste), then we really ought to get together more often. Yes we can meet online with social media, but face-to-face-to-beer is always a better choice. There are so many ways that we can enhance ourselves as a group that the mind boggles, but we'd be prudent to be methodological about it.
Our first spring 2010 AICHE Louisville meeting will be marked by it being the first to be advertised on Facebook. Those who want to be planners for AICHE_LVL should all join the Facebook group immediately and we can easily interact and reach consensus using this social medium. Please be professional, but let's not neglect this great opportunity that SM provides for collaboration and coordinated communication. I'm thinking the 4th Thursday of the month, starting April 22nd would be a good target date. Stay tuned for further updates.
Oddity afterthought: While Google-News-ing "chemical engineer" and "Louiville", the solo article was a Wave3 flash last week about a retired ChemE who now engages in hospice care. http://www.wave3.com/Global/story.asp?S=12154448 That's a start, but we need more articles about awesome ChemE's!
